Caravans & Tourers

Full Service

Ensuring that your caravan undergoes regular servicing is crucial for enhancing its reliability over time and can also lead to an increase in its resale value.

It is important to note that maintaining your caravan keeping it in a safe condition is not just a good practice but also a legal requirement to prevent any potential hazards that could arise.

While certain checks, such as inspecting tires and lights, should be performed independently by the owner, it is highly advisable to seek the expertise of professionals for more complex systems, including the braking system, electrical components, and gas systems within the living area, to avoid compromising safety.

To keep your caravan in excellent condition and ensure its reliability, there are several key maintenance practices you should follow. These include scheduling annual servicing, performing regular upkeep, and preparing for winter by ensuring correct storage and maintenance.

We strongly recommend that you have your annual servicing carried out by qualified and certified professionals, preferably those who are members of the Approved Workshop Scheme (AWS) or the Mobile Caravan Engineers Association (MCEA), like our team.

Electrical Test and Inspection

Is your Caravan over 3 years old? Do you remember when it had its last Electrical Inspection?

At Ecosse Caravan Services Ltd., we provide an essential service known as the Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR), which plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and of your caravan.

Our service is billed at an hourly rate of £60 plus VAT, and the time required for the inspection can vary based on the size of your caravan's installation and the specific equipment that needs to be tested.

Although the testing is not, compulsory we strongly encourage it, as the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) recommends that caravans undergo inspection and testing at least once every three years.

This is particularly important because the nature of caravan travel—being driven on the road—can lead to vibrations that may loosen connections or cause damage to components over time.

By utilizing our specialized testing equipment, we can effectively identify any potential issues, ensuring that you and others remain safe while on the road. Remember, this important test can be performed before your annual service or at any time you feel necessary.

Your safety is our top priority!

Floor Delamination

Caravan floors can develop a ‘spongy’ feel and delamination, especially in high traffic areas or over time.

Delamination occurs when the layers of the floor become unstuck, resulting in a soft sensation underfoot. Various factors can contribute to this issue, so it's essential to conduct a thorough investigation before proceeding with repairs.

In many cases, the existing floor covering may need to be removed, and the method of attachment will determine whether it can be reused or must be replaced.

### Investigation - Identify the cause of the delamination, which may include traffic patterns, moisture damage, etc.

### Advise on Floor Covering - Decide whether the existing floor covering can be saved or needs replacing. If new flooring is necessary, arrange for quotes.

### Affected Area - Measure the damaged area to assess the extent of the repair needed. Provide a quote for the required work.

### Carry Out Repair - Outline and complete the repair in the identified area.

### Flooring - Re-cover the floor with the original covering (if saveable) or install new flooring. If new fitting is necessary, a carpet fitter may be subcontracted for that job.

### Once the Work is Done - The outcome should be a firm floor surface that feels stable underfoot, and once the covering is back in place, it will restore the visual appeal of the area. However, keep in mind that this is a repair rather than a complete replacement, so continued usage patterns such as walking, standing, or jumping by children might lead to future delamination. Unfortunately, this is a recurring issue with caravan floors.
